How to choose a social media marketing agency in 2026

Most agencies pitch you vanity metrics. Reach. Impressions. Engagement. None of it pays your bills. You need content that sells, not a dashboard that sparkles. Here is how to separate the agencies that know what they are doing from the ones that just talk well.

1. Judge them by what they built, not by what they pitch

Every agency will send you a deck full of pretty screenshots. Ignore the polish. Ask them: Who was this for? What did it actually do for the client? If they can't name the brand or quote a real number, that deck is a template. Move on.

2. Full service, or just pretty pictures?

A real agency doesn't just hand you design files. They handle strategy, editorial calendar, copywriting, scheduling, comment replies, and a monthly report you can actually read. If they ship a folder of images and expect you to post them yourself, you don't have an agency. You have a freelance designer with a website.

3. Check what tools they actually use

In 2026, a social media agency that doesn't use AI in production is a restaurant that still cooks over firewood. Romantic. Slow. Expensive. The real question is how they use it. Tool, or autopilot? If every post they publish looks identical, they're letting AI run unsupervised. That's not creativity. That's a template factory.

4. Price matters, but it isn't everything

EUR10 per post and EUR600 per month for full management are realistic numbers in 2026. If someone quotes you EUR2,000 per month for 15 posts, ask them exactly what that extra EUR1,400 is buying. If someone quotes you EUR100 per month for full management, ask them how. Both ends of that spectrum usually mean the same thing: they're hiding something.

5. Response time tells you everything

If an agency takes 3 days to reply to a sales inquiry, how fast do you think they'll move when a post blows up in the comments and you need them right now? Test them before you sign. Send a WhatsApp message. Count the hours. That's your answer.

6. Ask for examples from your exact niche

If you run a law firm, ask if they've worked with professional services. If you run e-commerce, ask if they know how to make content that sells, not just content that photographs well. Every industry plays by different rules. Good agencies know yours before you sign. Bad agencies will learn on your money.

What we do differently

At i-vory Studio, AI is a production tool. That lets us ship high volume (at least one post per day) at honest pricing (from EUR10 per design). The ideas, the strategy, and the voice of your brand stay human. Nothing about your account runs on autopilot.
