Social media marketing in Bucharest: the practical guide
Somewhere in Bucharest there is a coffee shop that makes the best coffee in its neighbourhood. You have never been. Not because you would not like it, but because you have no idea it exists: you walk past it every day, on the other side of the street, phone in hand.
That is what happens to most good businesses in this city. They are not bad. They are unseen.
Social media is the shortest road from the pavement nobody looks at to the screen your customer is already staring at. This guide walks it with you. Numbers first, then steps.
Organic or paid: where you start
Organic means the platform pushes you for free, because people stop on what you posted. Paid means you pay to be seen. Put like that it sounds cynical, and maybe it is, but it is also true: ads are rent, organic is a house you own.
For a small business, organic comes first. I know. Everyone sells you the opposite, the platforms loudest of all, because they are the ones collecting the rent. But here is our number: 164,639 views for UrbanCat, from a single carousel that cost 13 EUR. Sixteen euros. About two coffees from that shop you still do not know about.
So the rule is simple. Organic builds the asset: the account, the community, the proof that you exist. Paid reach is rented on top of it, later, and only if you still need it.
Which platforms are worth your time
- TikTok first, and not because it is fashionable. 8.71 million adults in Romania are on it, per DataReportal (Digital 2026: Romania), more than half the adults in the country. It is the only place where an account you opened yesterday reaches ten thousand people today, none of whom went looking for you. Discovery lives there.
- Instagram plays a different part: 6 million users, 39.6% of adults. Nobody discovers you there. They check you there. The customer who heard about you opens your profile the way you would open a candidate's CV. Your feed is the interview.
- Facebook is the rich old uncle of the family: 10.3 million users, the biggest pool in Romania. The pool stopped filling, though. Its advertising audience did not move at all between 2024 and 2025. A full lake, no new water. For neighbourhood groups and the over-40s it still works, and in Bucharest the neighbourhood is where people buy.
- Then Google Business. It is not social media, which is exactly why everyone forgets it, and it decides what a person sees when they search for you by name.
The running order for a local business: TikTok, Instagram, Google Business.
What social media marketing costs in 2026
Doing it yourself costs exactly one hour a day. That is all. No budget excuse survives that. Only the time excuse is real: the hour has to be there every day, not just on the Sunday you feel like it.
With an agency, per piece:
- a post from 8 EUR
- a carousel 13 EUR
- a video from 50 EUR
Full management, with strategy, calendar and production, from 50 EUR a month, VAT not included. Those are our prices, they are public, and you can check them on the pricing page any time.
On ads, one rule. A small budget spread over short campaigns teaches the algorithm nothing. Put the money into content first. The ad comes later, on top of a message that has already proved itself.
The mistakes that burn the budget
- First: you post when you happen to remember. The algorithm has a short memory and no mercy. Two quiet weeks and it puts you back at zero.
- Second: you put ad money behind a message nobody has tested. It is like photocopying a letter nobody has read.
- Third: you copy the competition. People see two identical accounts and remember neither, and the one you copied at least got there first.
- The fourth is the quietest and the most expensive: you measure yourself in likes. A like is a pat on the back from a stranger walking past. A save, a share, a profile visit: that is someone who comes back. Count those.
The first 30 days: the actual plan
- Week 1: the foundation. Clean up the profiles, finish the Google Business listing, and write the 10 questions customers ask you on the phone on a single sheet of paper. That sheet is your content calendar for the whole month. It just does not know it yet.
- Weeks 2 and 3: the test. Publish 6 carousels across three angles: educational (you answer a real question), proof (a result, a review), behind the scenes (how the work actually gets done). Post at the same hour every time, so the comparison is honest.
- Week 4: the verdict. Saves, shares, profile visits. Next month the winning angle takes the place of the other two. That is the whole science: not more content, more of what works.
In Bucharest the biggest budget does not win. The message that wins is the one a person still remembers in the evening, when they finally have time to look you up. Start with one hour a day, spent well.
